The best definition of compassionate is this: the heartfelt, sympathetic feelings for the
suffering of others with the follow through of a sincere desire and action to
help them in their need.
The second best definition, simply put, is Lindsay.
Lindsay’s actions are the genuine display of Lindsay’s
heart.
It was at four-o-clock that we were scheduled to meet, but
Lindsay was late. She was not tardy because she was being careless. She was not
behind schedule because of congested traffic. No, Lindsey was late because of
her heart of amazing compassion for others.
Let me explain. As she was driving to meet my sister and me,
she passed a homeless man on the side of a street; he was holding a sign to
explain his need for food. Without thinking twice, Lindsay turned her car
around.
It is effortless to hand out money and drive away. However,
Lindsay went to a restaurant, purchased food and brought it to the man. “This is for you,” Lindsay said as she
handed him the meal. He eagerly accepted her generosity; he ate it like it had
been several days since his last meal.
As Lindsay was preparing to leave, she was prompted to stay.
She went back to her car to retrieve the extra bible she keeps (just for times like these). Lindsay
shared the good news of Jesus with that man and gave him the bible.
God knows the result of Lindsay’s actions. It is unmistakable
that Jesus shine’s through her life.
Over the past year, I have had the privilege of worshipping
with Lindsay; she is a lead songstress at my church. With the voice of an
angel, yet a powerful resonance, Lindsay leads the congregation in sincere
praise.
It was not until two weeks ago that Lindsay and I became
friends. Michaela, my sister, met Lindsay first, due to her upcoming mission
trip, and introduced us.
Right from the start, Lindsay illustrated a true friend.
